Como is a northern Italian city located at the southern end of Lake Como. It is well known for the Gothic Como Cathedral, the panoramic views from the funicular and the lakeside promenade. The Museo Didattico della Seta retraces the history of the Como silk industry. The Tempio Voltiano is a museum dedicated to the memory of the Italian physicist Alessandro Volta. Just north of it are the gardens of the palatial Villa Olmo on Lake Como and other impressive villas.
George Clooney is supposed to have a house here, but unfortunately I did not see him 🙂
Comos prices are still ok. You get a coffee for 1.20 euros and a pizza Tonno for 11 euros – and the view of the cathedral!
Hours: 9:30 to 12:00, 15:00 to 19:00. On Saturday there is a big market on the edge of the city walls – here you can do a few bargains.
